Pick one theme and carry it through every area. When the lobby tree, entrance wreaths and reception tree share the same colors, the building looks decorated as a whole.
Sizing the lobby tree
Measure the ceiling height at the spot where the tree will stand, then leave visible space above the top of the tree. A topper adds height that is easy to forget when ordering, so count it in.
Then check the floor. The base of a commercial tree gets wider as the tree gets taller, and a lobby tree needs clearance for people to walk past it at the busiest time of day. Keep it clear of doors, the reception desk sightline, security gates and elevator banks. It is common for a lobby to take a shorter tree than the ceiling allows, because the floor space matters more than the extra feet.

Entrance wreaths and garland
The entrance is the one place every visitor sees. Commercial wreaths run from 3 feet up to 12 feet in diameter. Size them to the distance they are seen from: a wreath beside a door is read from a few steps away, while one on a facade or canopy has to read from the street.
Garland is sold in 10 foot sections, from 12 to 24 inches in diameter. Use the thinner sizes on railings, reception desks and door frames, and the thicker sizes on columns and exterior canopies, where a thin garland reads as a line rather than decoration. Measure the actual path the garland will follow, including any drape, rather than the straight-line distance.
Atriums and open spaces
An atrium has height that a tree alone rarely fills. Overhead hanging decor uses that vertical space, and giant ornaments or giant gift boxes at floor level give the tree a setting. Keep walkways and sightlines to signage clear, and check with building management which ceiling points can carry weight before choosing anything that hangs.
What building management will ask
Most office buildings have rules about what can be installed in common areas, and the conversation is easier if it happens before the order.
- Your building or local fire marshal may set requirements for decorations in lobbies and exits. Confirm them first, and ask us for the material information on any piece you are considering.

- Anything overhead needs an approved attachment point.
- Plan installation for after hours or a weekend so tenants are not disrupted.
